The loft apartment is based in the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Inspired by his time spent in New York, our client was looking for that city style. We had to face the challenge of upgrading an already existing apartment and totally flip it. The dark red tiles are the main character that we were looking for so we spend a lot of time searching for the right texture and color, then it was up to our team to place them brick by brick. All creative choices after that were inspired by the look and feel of natural materials. The feeling of natural oak veneer next to MDF covered in velvet finishing juxtaposed to the cold black metal is what makes us want to welcome the sunset with a Manhattan cocktail in hand. Our client is an amazing cook and host therefore the kitchen island is what the zoning was all about. Making it easier to communicate with the guests even when cooking or preparing drinks for the final hours of the party when all are resting on the couch. The lighting centerpiece above the island is specially designed for this project to light up the center of the room and provide shelving for some amazing green plants. Getting upstairs we will find the home office where we covered the floor with carpet and included some custom made shelving for our client’s gaming collection. Lighting is always crucial when designing office spaces so we put emphasis on good light and a comfortable lounge chair for some relaxation. Nowadays the home office is incredibly important so we had to make sure it is divided in three small zones: work area, relaxation zone and “walk&talk&chalk” area where he can draw on the wall or just walk back and forth trying to come up with a new idea. The bedroom is his escape space, where we intentionally chose earth colors and textures that would ease the mind and body.
